The vast majority of what goes on in your Georgia DUI case happens behind the scenes.  You spend hours with your DUI defense attorney at different stages of the case.  However, what you do not see are the long hours of preparation, legal research, telephone calls and face-to-face conversations your attorney has with members of his or her staff, experts, witnesses for the prosecution, even with the prosecutors, and perhaps with the judge.  The best DUI attorneys know everyone in your court system, including the judges, the clerks, the court reporters, and the prosecutors.  All of these participants in the court system have support staff members too.
No one should promise you that they can obtain a “deal” for you because of who he or she knows.  That is not the way the court system works.  Prosecutors do not have to offer deals, and state law may prohibit the prosecutor from reducing a DUI. However, if your attorney can make things work as smoothly as possible, then this is part of why you have hired your DUI specialist.
